We started Wavy Haze Records primarily as an outlet for our own creations. We had the vision to do our trilogy of albums - JUICE, SQUEEZE & PULP - before the recordings were finished and we knew the best way to ensure they were released on the timeline we wanted was to roll up our sleeves like the long line of indie-rock predecessors before us and self-release our music. We bet on ourselves. However, we quickly realized that we could also bet on others. Artists who we believed in. Artists who excited us. Artists who we wanted to work with, tour with, record with and hopefully give a signal boost too. Thus, Wavy Haze became more than the Born Ruffians outlet, it became simply an outlet. With Wavy Haze, we set our own terms, and with that in mind, we wanted the terms of the label to be the most artist friendly we could come up with. In short, we wanted to offer record deals that we wish we had been offered when we were just starting out. Deals that encourage long term partnerships but do not force it. Deals that let the artist own their music like us. Deals that give the power back to the artist. The artists we release we believe in absolutely. We are not betting on a quick hit; we are betting on careers. Based on the quality of the music we are set to release, it is an easy bet to make. - Born Ruffians
