A Strangely Isolated Place is a music blog, community and record label.
Established in 2008, the name wasn’t picked on the brilliance of Ulrich Schnauss’ album alone, but also because of the belief that everyone is inspired by their own strangely isolated place.
Since the very beginning, the A Strangely Isolated Place blog has been at the foundation, with a focus on unearthing some of the very best ambient and electronica; through reviews, features and guest mixes.
These origins helped foster a welcoming community of like-minded music lovers, from which we have been lucky enough to collaborate with and set our own agenda through the creation of the label.
The A Strangely Isolated Place label started in 2012 with a series of digital releases and now focuses mainly on vinyl, with special attention paid to the aesthetics and design of the overall release. The music style released has been described as ambient adjacent, as we explore the many elements, origins, evolutions and associations of the genre.
In August 2019, we launched a new venture: 24-7 online curated streaming, called 9128.live and a label arm to publish recordings.
