Welcome to DLD (Developmental Learning Disorder) - a seven-piece Brighton based 'Art-Rock' group formed in mid 2022. Their debut single ‘Sanity’ combines a plethora of lush instrumentation to create an oppressive wall of sound that fluctuates between dynamic extremes. Metronomic drumming and warbling keys compliment the twanging baritone guitar that drives the melody. These dark ‘spooky’ sounds are inspired by the work of a variety of bands and artists such as Opus Kink, Leonard Cohen, Fat White Family and Portishead. Frontman, Billy Marsch, stated on the themes of their debut single: “Sanity is heavily inspired by my own experiences with mental health in lockdown and my neurodiversity. DLD (developmental learning disorder) is an outlet for my psyche and a chance to perform again after so long locked away” On the 2nd of July DLD will be headlining The Green Door Store to promote the release of ‘Sanity’. Further shows in Ipswich and Manchester are to follow. The band spent much of 2023 playing a run of sell out support shows around the south east area with bands such as The Cool Greenhouse, Alien Chicks, ELLiS·D and Fliptop Head. Their debut single is the first release from their debut EP “A Modern World History”, recorded by renowned Brighton producer Bobby Smyth. DLD make their debut through DIY label Crafting Room Recordings who are known for their ‘not-for-profit’ approach and for working with artists such as: Dutch Criminal Record, Hulaun, ELLiS·D and many more.
