"There's an age-old rule about working for 10,000 hours before you truly master something. Now, we can't verify if that's true or not, but prodigal songwriter Tom A. Smith must surely have clocked up 10,000 hours before he was even in his teens." - CLASH
"A restless rocky anthem to freedom from the Sunderland teenager who penned more than 150 songs during lockdown." - THE TIMES (Best New Tracks, 'Dragonfly')
"While he may be in the primary stages of his career, it is fair to say that Smith's irresistible blend of visual mastery and explosive sound make him one to watch." - WONDERLAND

Sunderland, 22nd Nov - After another exceptional year for the emerging artist, which included his highly-praised single "Get Me Started", Swim School collaboration "I don't want you to have to remember me for longer than you ever knew me", and countless festival performances, Sunderland's Tom A. Smith is now seeing out 2024 with his soaring festive single "This Christmas Time".
Injecting his usual indie-rock flair into a distinctly yuletide-inspired production throughout, "This Christmas Time" finds him in a wonderfully warm and emotive guise. Originally written long before his recording career but still a live favourite this time of year, Tom A. Smith looks to bring this seasonal anthem to the wider world, adding a much-needed dose of bittersweet tenderness to these ever-darkening winter days.
Adding about the new release, he said, "I wanted to write something that would stand the test of time, I love bittersweet songs and think it has a fantastic mood to it. I wrote the song when I was 15 and have played it every December and sort of insisted that I wanted the world to hear it. I've seen the live acoustic version stop people in their tracks and I'm really proud of it."
Tom A. Smith has been on a whirlwind of live performances throughout the last two years, including being selected by Elton John to join him at his British Summer Time show at Hyde Park, appearances at Glastonbury in 2022 and 2023 (Left Field stage and Strummerville), BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee, F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, opening Leeds Festival to more than 6000 music fans, The Great Escape and Neighbourhood Weekender and not to mention supporting Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Lathums, The Mysterines, Hard-Fi, Courteeners, Miles Kane, James, Billy Bragg, DMA's, Vistas, and Gang of Youths to name a few!
Despite being only 20-years-old, Sunderland-based newcomer Tom A. Smith has already achieved more than most artists do in a lifetime.
Tom played his first ever gig aged 8, supporting local psychedelic rockers Detroit Social Club at Newcastle's legendary venue 'The Cluny'. He performed at Glastonbury before he was even in secondary school, and he was handpicked by Tim Burgess to play his stage at Kendal Calling, making him the festival’s youngest ever performer.
He has played live with some big names - local hero Sam Fender, Catfish & The Bottlemen, and superstar Elton John. Plus The Lathums, The Mysterines, Courteeners, The Lottery Winners, Miles Kane, James, Billy Bragg, DMA's, Vistas, The K's, and Gang of Youths to name a few!
Tom has received airplay and playlists on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio X, Absolute, KCRW and Triple J. Garnering the support from tastemakers like Jack Saunders and John Kennedy and was named Apple Music's 'Up Next Artist' and Amazon Music's 'Breakthrough Artist of the Month'.
Tom has also performed on TV shows such as Soccer AM, MOTD X, MTV Gonzo and Sunday Brunch.
2024 has seen him embark on another headline tour, release two self-produced singles, get nominated for an AIM Award for Most Played New Independent Artist, and announce an exciting new acting venture playing a young Dave Stewart in upcoming feature film musical 'Ebony Mcqueen'.
