city: Berlin27-year-old Norwegian-Irish singer-songwriter based in Berlin, Tara Nome Doyle announces she’s signed to cult label FatCat Records. She also shares new single ‘The Overgrown Path’ to join the signing news.
Tara has garnered international attention with her haunting vocals, introspective lyrics, and atmospheric, art pop sound. Her 2018 debut single 'Down with You’ has amassed over 6 million streams, and her albums Alchemy (2020) and Værmin (2022) received praise from the likes of Wonderland Magazine, CLASH, Vogue Japan, The Irish Times, Daily Mirror, Hot Press and more. Following a two-year hiatus, her self-produced EP Agape (2024) marked her return to the music scene, documenting an emotional and cathartic journey through grief.
Writing with Isobel Waller-Bridge, she’s contributed to Netflix’s Munich and forthcoming Three Women based on the best selling book by Lisa Taddeo, plus Tara’s songs, music and performances have featured in several films and TV series, including Sonja Heiss’ Wann wird es endlich wieder so, wie es nie war, Anders W. Bertelsen’s The Joy of Serendipity, Claudia Rorarios’ Touched, and HBO’s Generation.
A keen collaborator, she’s worked with local musicians such Federico Albanese, Malakoff Kowalski, and Max Rieger. Her last album produced, by Grammy-award winning engineer Simon Goff, saw reinterpretations from the likes of Craig Armstrong, Meredi and Lisa Morgenstern. Together with arranger and composer Viktor Orri Árnason and the chamber ensemble Echo Collective, Doyle also created string versions of several of the long-player's songs. A member of Kat Frankie's B O D I E S choir, she recently began a band project with Grandbrothers’ Erol Sarp.
With a video directed by Mateusz Miszczyński, Tara wrote ‘The Overgrown Path’ in 2020 and it radiates the same mystery and wonder that defined its creation. She recalls, “I don’t even remember writing this song. It feels like it appeared to guide me—a gift from a truer version of myself. In moments of doubt, I’ve often turned to it for solace, and its presence in my life continues to feel deeply meaningful and inspiring.”
The song serves as a love letter to those who dare to forge their own path. “It’s a reminder that nobody knows the right way,” Tara reflects, “so we might as well follow the one that makes us feel most alive.”
Tara’s personal journey resonates with the track’s message. “Growing up, I didn’t have any musicians or professional artists around me, and I think that’s why it took me so long to embrace the idea of making music my career,” she shares. “I constantly questioned myself, feeling like an outsider in a world of performers, music geeks, and virtuosos. Yet, I kept returning to this path—drawn by the songs and a life that reveals itself with every step I dare to take.”
The recording process for ‘The Overgrown Path’ was as serendipitous as its origins. While visiting collaborator Federico Albanese in Northern Italy, what began as a demo unexpectedly became the final version. “There was something so magical about the recording,” Tara says. “You can hear the birds singing through the open balcony door. It just captured the lightness and charm of the track perfectly.”
A reflection on intuition, courage, and the beauty of uncertainty, ‘The Overgrown Path’ is an ode to trusting your instincts and embracing the unknown.
