SPRINTS are sharing the latest single and video from their hotly-anticipated debut album Letter To Self, out January 5th via City Slang Records. ‘Shadow Of A Doubt’ explores another facet of Sprints' already-impressive repertoire; stark, intense and lyrically frank - it's the sound of a band at the top of their game.
SPRINTS have forged a reputation as a must-see live band in the UK and Ireland; combining passion, vulnerability and fun in equal measure. Press and radio support has been abundant and the band's recent sold out show at London's Scala was a real moment for the four-piece. SPRINTS will play their first ever show in the US tonight at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, NY and today announced their first ever US tour in March 2024. The will also headline London's iconic Heaven next Spring as part of a huge UK/EU tour (all tour dates below).

Of ‘Shadow Of A Doubt’, Karla Chubb, SPRINTS' lead vocalist, says "Shadow Of A Doubt is our most vulnerable moment to date. It very bluntly deals with the experience of trauma, depression and the aftermath. It was written quite selfishly - to take the weight of some of those feelings off myself by placing them on a page in an attempt to feel like I was healing, or ridding myself of them. An entirely cathartic process.
The slow and intensifying build, the crashing drums, swirling guitars and chaotic climax all symbolize that pure terrifying fall into darkness, and the almost silent call for help. It’s the feeling of loneliness, abandonment and exile. It’s shouting out into the void and thinking everyone can hear you, but they can’t.
The vocal was recorded in three takes with jagged breaths and some misstepped lyrics purposefully left in. Here, we felt emotion was more important than perfection."
Transforming pain into truth, passion into purpose and perseverance into strength, the Dublin four-piece have steadily grown in stature over the last three years, sharing two acclaimed EPs and building a fearsome live reputation opening for the likes of Yard Act and Suede. Letter To Self is the sound of SPRINTS leveling up once again, revisiting their most vulnerable moments and imbuing their visceral garage-punk with a palpable sense of catharsis that we can all benefit from.
Singer, guitarist and lead-songwriter Karla Chubb has never shied away from confronting inner turmoil. Born in Dublin, she spent a portion of her early childhood in Germany, initially turning to music as a consequence of feeling out-of-step with the world. “I lived in a constant state of existential crisis,” she recalls. “Music became an outlet for emotion, and a way for me to understand myself and society."
Despite being pre-debut album, SPRINTS have received a wealth of press support (The Guardian, Dork, DIY, NME, Loud & Quiet, Clash, Gigwise and others). They've also won an abundance of support at BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music.
