Today, we release DREAM ON: a song that comes straight from my racing heart.
It’s difficult to overstate how much this song means to me. It was written a while ago now, and throughout all the years we’ve been writing Lad Ash, it’s been the one that I’ve held on to the tightest. For me, through some tough moments and bleak winters, DREAM ON always felt like a companion, a torch to keep burning, and the kind of proof you can’t argue with – of happiness, romance, friendship, and the redemptive power of new love.
And also of my ability to write a chorus.
We are ecstatic to finally share it with you, alongside a banging video straight from the peerless Jacek Zmarz, shot on the grounds of an abandoned mansion deep in the London shadowlands.
Shouts to Jet, Riley, Jack and Clara, as well as Polly for the make-up and Guy Domb for being the best getaway driver in the West.
This is the last single before our second album LAD ASH arrives on April 22nd. It’s taken seven years but this song was always meant to arrive now, the last stop on the line, in the first flushes of spring, as the world and the city we call home opens back up.
I can't believe that after all these years, it's only five weeks away.
We’ll be playing some shows to celebrate the launch of the single, our album and the return of the sun. First up: the White Hotel in Salford in less than two weeks’ time.
