“Recalling the early ’00s and the likes of LCD Soundsystem. It’s hard not to get lost in the grooves - which feel oh-so-fitting for the summer months - and by its end, you’re left with an undeniable sense of tranquil joy.” DIY
A band of full-time gardeners based in London, and hailing from across the UK and Brazil, PARTICLS formed in an impulsive haze of euphoria during a Kerri Chandler set at Wilderness festival. Performing alongside the likes of GÈNN, Wych Elm and Solar Eyes, and Selling out their first headline show at London’s Paper Dress Vintage last spring, the band’s subsequent release ‘Music To My Hands’ garnered airplay on BBC Radio 6Music (New Music Fix), and early press support from indie champions DIY and CLUNK.
Coming ahead of their biggest headline show to date at Folklore Hoxton next week (15th), the band share a sumptuous double release today (9th January). Oozing with lilting, lysergic romance - and recalling the likes of Gruff Rhys or Matt Berry - leading cut ‘Loving Feeling’ bakes itself in the warm fragilities of a misguided, late-night surge towards the dawn, while its jaunty flip side ‘Face to Face’ offers a morning splash of cold water and Nilsson-esque honky tonking whimsy.
Offering more insight into the release, vocalist/bassist Rudy Blu says: “‘We felt these two songs dovetailed nicely, hence releasing them together. ‘Loving Feeling’ is really a question about the frustration of misguided, unresolved feelings, not knowing quite what to do with or where to put them. The lyrics just repeat throughout the song, the main question, starting off quite timid but building to an almost angry frustration by the end. ‘Face to Face’ is more of a straightforward expression of joy, we know exactly what we want to do with the ‘loving feeling’ here.’
