East London’s Novi Sad are releasing lead single ‘Health’ from their upcoming debut EP, Are You Ever Able?, following on from their 2021 debut single ‘Any Change’ (“The way to start. Almost as full on as it gets” – Artrocker Radio). Combining acerbic, intrusive lyrics with chaotic, layered guitars, ‘Health’ showcases Novi Sad at their cacophonous best. The track is tied together by driving, repetitive basslines and explosive drums, which create syncopated rhythms as it climaxes in a vicious wall of sound. Championing a DIY ethos the EP is entirely self-produced, allowing the band to shape the soundscape in an extremely personal way and include elements of noise-rock, post-punk and new wave rather than being restricted and pigeonholed to a single genre. Novi Sad also created the accompanying video for ‘Health’... “The video sees dreams and nightmares colliding, with flashes of lucid moments mangled together with dark trips as the lyrical protagonist struggles with their hold on reality.” Quickly gaining a reputation and following for their visceral live shows that are set up to shock with out of sync strobe effects and testing amounts of feedback, they have supported the likes of VR Sex and Lumer and played their first international shows in Paris and Bordeaux in April 2022. Recorded and edited at Strongroom Studio by Jake Murray and mastered by Sam Berdah at The Wall Studios, ‘Health’ will be released on 7th October with the Are You Ever Able? EP to follow.
