Selected praise for "Nocturnal Creatures":
"An arty post-punk jam" - Stereogum
"Blessed with a shrewd melodic touch, the band fuse this with surrealist word-play, building to that impeccable chorus." - CLASH
"Moreish Idols whisk us through this warped song with aplomb, guiding us through moments of beautifully streamlined fun into clattering pile ups of noise." - Beats Per Minute
"A new banger... promises an exciting string of releases to come." - Dork
"Hectic at times, but in the best way – a captivating listen." - DIY
"A hazy slice of indie-pop that centres around a laid-back vocal delivery, bolstered by a danceable drum beat and scuzzy guitar lines." - Yuck
South London's Moreish Idols arrived fully-formed last year with the absurdist smarts of "Speedboat" and the contorted thrill of "Hangar", two highlights from a debut EP for Speedy Wunderground, "Float", that was packed full of them and saw international support from the likes of Stereogum, The FADER, NME, BBC 6 Music and more.
Earlier this month they shared their first new material of 2023 with the acclaimed "Nocturnal Creatures", a woozy slice of arch indie-pop that demonstrated an already tight songwriting team growing only stronger. Today they share the second single from fruitful new sessions with producer Dan Carey in the form of "Between These Ears" playing on the more esoteric persona of the band, with a playful, near spoken-word vocal, prominent clarinet and a loose feel that fits the explorative nature of their output so far.
Never ones to be pinned down, the band say on the themes of their new single: "Between These Ears is a silhouette of someone not quite at home anywhere, wading in the mud, somewhere in-between making and missing the point."
