city: San FranciscoMae Powell, a Bay Area based songstress and rainbow entity, presents her debut Karma Chief single 'Rope You In,' off her forthcoming Sophomore album. The dreamy soundscape, intertwined with Mae's stunning vocals, creates a refreshing yet comforting sound in the indie singer-songwriter space. The electric 12 string solo, played by Garrett Barley, runs through a Leslie speaker, adding an ever enchanting and mysterious sonic element.
Writing this track was the beginning of a long emotional journey that inevitably resulted in an entire LP. "I feel grateful for the way writing songs helps me make sense of and process emotions while I'm in the thick of them," Mae says. The tune was recorded and produced by David Parry (Alice Phoebe Lou) on Vancouver Island.
Mae's debut album, "Both Ways Brighter" was released in 2021 and is an homage to love and friendship. You can find her singing jazz, spinning vinyl, or playing her original music with her 5 piece band made up of her very best friends.
