Los Angeles outfit Milly announce the forthcoming arrival of debut album ‘Eternal Ring’, set for release September 30th via cult indie label Dangerbird Records (Grandaddy, Swervedriver), and share lead single ‘Nullify’ out today (June 23rd - video here).
Produced in LA in collaboration with Gleemer’s Corey Coffman, ‘Nullify’ finds Milly in full-blown pop mode, the melodic-but-mystifying influence of classic avant-garde indie progenitors like Pavement clear to see. The forthcoming ‘Eternal Ring’ is kinetic, physical, and often a little bit volatile — a mixture of emo music and 90s-indebted indie that tastes as if it’s been fermenting for years, feeding on itself until it becomes something new entirely.
A profound first full-length statement from frontman and songwriter Brendan Dyer and his closest collaborator, bass player Yarden Erez, it’s a record that takes the anxiety of modern-day America and filters it through a prismatic, powerfully individualistic lens, resulting in something intense, bracing, and deeply modern.
Originally the solo project of Dyer, his relocation from Connecticut to Los Angeles saw the band expand to include collaborator Erez. After signing to Dangerbird Records, 2019 saw the band on tour with Swervedriver & DIIV, and in 2021 they released their acclaimed EP ‘Wish Goes On’.
With immense acclaim throughout the press landscape (NME, NPR, Clash, Paste, Gigwise, Beats Per Minute) greeting their EP release, Milly’s tremendous sense of promise is reflected in today’s first LP reveal, with further new material on its way across the summer months.
Detailing the record's crushing lead single, Dyer explains: “The song is about people who think they can solve other people's problems for them when they can’t even balance their own shit. We want to aid others which is admirable but first we need to check in on ourselves to decide whether or not that’s actually possible. Anyone can be a hero if they try…”
