Llyr returns to Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint with a five-track package fusing his signature blend of immersive, densely-detailed sonic wanderings with dancefloor escapism. Dichromanticism is out 19th July as Digital EP
Following his critically-acclaimed debut album Biome in 2021, Llyr shared fresh original music on the imprint at the end of 2023 as part of the newly launched Lattice project - a series of releases that blend cutting-edge electronics with references from across the musical spectrum. Expanding on this notion with Dichromanticism, Llyr merges the layered world-building and storytelling flow from his ecological works with physical, groove-laden workouts. We’re ushered through broken rhythms as well as four-to the-floor territory, evoking his home of Berlin as well as giving a nod to his UK roots.
At the core of Llyr’s approach to production is the meeting of cinematic immersion and dancefloor energy, embodied perfectly here across five craftily designed cuts. Tapping into the spirit of hand-made ‘record-and-jam’ techno yet coated with an ultra-processed sheen, each track is rooted in forms familiar to all dance-music lovers; the obsessive layers of detail and meticulous edits - designed to be ever more rewarding with repeat listens - give a unique touch which is unmistakably his.
Ethereal echoes drift through spaces which expand and contract, pitch-bending pads evoke the trippy and cerebral, spirited hand-filtered rhythmic chords give the slightest whiff of the classics, and agile basslines carry hypnotic drums and fizzy highs across hazy dancefloors.
In fusing together the warmth of analogue circuits and the unashamedly crystalline into rich sonic palettes referencing a wide musical landscape, Llyr creates tangible worlds of sound for you to explore.
