SoCal underground heroines L.A. Witch have shared new single ‘777’.
The group announced plans for a new album a few moments ago, with ‘DOGGOD’ set to land on April 4th via the always-vital Suicide Squeeze Records.
The record finds the West Coast triptych going international – recorded in Paris, it blends their raw dark wave sound with a kind of pristine, Euro-centric chicness. Working from the famed Motorbass studios in the French city, L.A. Witch melt together noise pop aspects with a gothic chic derived from the studio’s endless supply of ancient electronics.
Expanding their sound, L.A. Witch conversely reinforce their core values, engaging with a sense of progression that feels wholly natural.
Available to pre-order now, the album is led by the bruised beauty of new single ‘777’.
The title is a reference to an angel number, while the songwriting tethers itself in the spiritual, while exploring layers of synthetic sound.
On the track, Sade Sanchez of L.A. Witch comments…
A part of the energy in our new album is a result to being able to record in a different city that we all love, which is so different from home. Recorded at Motorbass studios in Paris, 777 is considered to be an “angel” number. It’s a song about the willingness to die for love in the process of serving it or suffering for it. It’s about loyalty to the very end. Filled with chorus and guitar dive, it was one of our favourite songs to record and we can’t wait to play it live.
