Leeds alt-rock risers L’objectif share punchy new effort ‘Burbank’, out today (March 20th) via cult indie label Dance To The Radio (Ellur, Far Caspian, Terra Twin)
Arriving ahead of the band’s April UK headline tour and marking the follow-up to January single release ‘Goth Kids’, L’objectif’s thrilling development continues to gather pace. Fuelled by their trailblazing energy and sublime anthemic sensibilities, the group will also be hitting the festival circuit this summer with appearances lined up at the likes of Live At Leeds In The Park and Kendal Calling.
Generating acclaim throughout all corners of the press landscape (The Observer, The Sunday Times, NME, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, Rough Trade + more), as well as a previous BBC 6 Music playlist spot and key radio champions in the form of Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Iggy Pop, Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1) and Matt Wilkinson (Apple Music), L’objectif have begun on their debut album, with further news to follow imminently.
Ahead of their latest single release, the quartet stated: “‘Burbank’ is about a character who travels to America in the pursuit of fame and self discovery but in the process seems to completely lose their identity. This song is the second instalment in a trilogy of songs that are connected, following on from goth kids, written about the same character earlier in their life. In Burbank, the character’s futile search for identity brings about the unravelling of all their flaws as they lose themselves to addiction, false hope and their own ego.”
