Kent indie rock/alternative quartet Indoor Pets are delighted to reveal the video for their gargantuan new single ‘Dopamine Girls’ set for release on 20th March 2024.
The track is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming new album Pathetic Apathetic, set for release on 10th May 2024 via original label home Alcopop! Records.
Following metal-tinged indie anthem lead single ‘London (Love To Hate)’, the Kent four-piece's latest offering from their upcoming sophomore album maintains their newfound ferocity while sinking its teeth into a fresh topic: the universal insanity of crushing on someone - HARD.
The band rip through the track's euphoric verses and choruses with a zest perfect for summer festival stages and sticky concert floors. You can almost smell the stale beer coming through the speakers. A cacophony of overdriven strings rattles against fretboards, bouncing through a riff not so far away from the early 2000s nu metal moment, while the melodic, nasal vocals tackle what it feels like to meet someone new and have it consume your waking hours.
Commenting on the single, vocalist Jamie Glass says: “It's Limp Bizkit without the red cap and unnecessary testosterone. It's Sum 41 if they listened to Oasis' Definitely Maybe. It's Disturbed if they weren't so... disturbed? This one is our ode to falling head over heels while trying not to lose your mind when doing so. What's not to love?”
The album’s anthemic lead single ‘London (Love To Hate)’ was released last month with radio spins from Alyx Holcombe at BBC R1, Tom Robinson and The Indie Forever Show at BBC 6music, and was made Record of The Week at BBC Radio Kent.
The single also smashed onto Spotify’s New Music Friday, All New Rock, The Rock List and shockwave playlists, alongside support from DORK Magazine, The Punk Site, Noizze and many more alternative tastemakers.
Featuring the high-pitched snarl of Jamie Glass, the melodic guitar stylings of James Simpson, the rhythmic force of Rob Simpson on drums, and the ribcage-rattling basslines of Oliver Nunn, Indoor Pets have finally returned triumphant from their self-imposed hiatus with the promise of tour dates, a behemoth sophomore album, and a far darker mood.
Hot on the heels of 3 SOLD OUT nights at The Grace in London and Deaf Institute in Manchester, the band recently announced a run of May 2024 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale now (see below for listings), and Indoor Pets will also be appearing at this year’s 2000 Trees Festival on 10th—13th July, with further festival dates TBA.
A band that have never taken themselves too seriously, and now preparing to lay bare their internal angst for all to see, Indoor Pets are no longer pulling their punches.
