“London’s Human Resources are grabbing you by your white collar and spitting stentorian post-punk prayers” So Young Magazine “Surreal social commentary…brimming with raw energy” Acute Pop Laced with a maladjusted nostalgia towards the great ‘dance craze’ songs of old, London newcomers sustain their daggered post-punk absurdities on jerking new single ‘Kinshasha Shuffle’ Their very own‘ Locomotion’ or ‘Macarena’, plied with vocalist Harry Handford’s elliptic observations of a fabled dancer executing moves like the ‘Top Gun’ or the ‘Fried Rice’, the track marks the second teaser of their newly announced forthcoming debut EP ‘Malperfect’set for release on 11th August 2023, accompanied by a launch show at The George Tavern (with support from For Breakfast) Explaining their latest track, the band say this: “In the grand tradition of The Hokey-Cokey and the Cha Cha Slide, we present our own take on the ‘dance song’ with easy-to-follow instructions and a propulsive rhythm to jive along to at home!” Describing themselves on Linkedin as “A South London startup focusing on performance driven management solutions”, Human Resources employ the sterile jargon of office existence to skewer and poke fun at the encroaching corporatisation of everyday life and social relations. Akin to the likes of underground favourites Hotel Lux and The Cool Greenhouse, the band play the nuances of surreal social commentary against a backdrop of undiluted post-punk immediacies to construct their immersive lyrical landscapes. Glazed in schlocky B Movie Horrors; cartoon monsters ready to pounce from it’s wardrobes of hard-rock riffs; twangy Rowland S Howard-like guitar lines - ‘Malperfect’ offers a perverse cavalcade of popular figures lost in the confusions of benign modernity - the Pope, St. Peter and Cristiano Ronaldo all players in this off-kilter odyssey of raggedy, in-your-face, lo-fi joy. |
