Garage rockers Holiday Ghosts share LP teaser ‘Again and Again’, out today (April), the final reveal from the group’s upcoming ‘Absolute Reality’ LP, set for release April 21st via FatCat Records (TRAAMS, Honeyblood, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks).
Marking the follow-up to acclaimed 2022 EP ‘Credit Note’, ‘Absolute Reality’ tackles different themes of social commentary, with fiery lyrics and hard-picked guitars, holding both honest confessions and tall tales, lived stories and movie-like landscapes. Bringing that warm and familiar HGs jangle, ‘Favourite Freak’ further demonstrates the band’s indie sensibilities and deep inspiration from the New York punk and the New Wave era, a theme prevalent throughout their fourth album.
Between their last record ‘North Street Air’, to the present day of ‘Absolute Reality’, Holiday Ghosts have rocked iconic stages throughout the UK and Europe, from Latitude Festival to Left Of The Dial, from Dot to Dot to ‘Misty Fields’ from the Pyrenees mountains to the chapels of Chester. They’ve shared countless stages with acts such as Black Lips, Bodega and The Bug Club, attracted widespread praise across the press community (The Guardian, The Independent, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, KEXP, DIY, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Gigwise), and ticked off live sessions/interviews aplenty on BBC 6 Music with key tastemakers (Steve Lamacq, Mark Riley).
Speaking ahead of the track release, guitarist Ben Nightingale explained: “I wrote ‘Again and Again’ in a moment of realisation where the place beyond my peripheral vision had doubled over to confront me. I had begun to neglect the things you forget about when you’re traveling through a tunnel, seeing things through a pinhole; the song is an ode to naïveté and the trials and tribulations that often plague those who dance blindfolded in snake pits”.
Holiday Ghost’s ‘Again and Again’ is out now via FatCat Records and available on all digital platforms.
Holiday Ghosts is Katja Rackin (vocals, drums), Samuel Stacpoole (vocals, guitar, synth), Benedict Nightingale (guitar, backing vocals), Morgan Lloyd Matthews (bass)
Arriving hot on the heels of acclaimed 2022 EP ‘Credit Note’, ‘Absolute Reality’ tackles different themes of social commentary, with fiery lyrics and hard picked guitars, holding both honest confessions and tall tales, lived stories and movie-like landscapes. Showcasing the noise and texture that Holiday Ghosts love from the New York punk scene and New Wave era, new single ‘Vulture’ cements their flourishing status within the alt-rock scene and lays down a real marker ahead of their spring LP release.
