London slowcore band deathcrash will release their new album Less on March 17th via untitled (recs). Recorded at the UK’s most remote studio in the Outer Hebrides, Less follows their critically acclaimed 2022 album, Return with a statement in reduction that turns out to be as powerful and potent as it is tender and introspective.
Having previously shared the melancholic and explosive single ‘Empty Heavy’, the band now take a moment of peaceful respite as they explore patience and letting go via triumphant new single ‘Duffy’s’.
Bassist Patrick Fitzgerald says, “It alternates between very sparse slowcore sections and more open, catchy melodies and riffs. It’s not in a rush, but it does give in to something, a lightness maybe."
Speaking of the accompanying video, he says it, “aims to capture this lightness, and the sometimes fun and sometimes frustrating process of making and recording music together. I’d been doing a lot of filming of the band, and I brought up a camera to Scotland to document the process. Joe helped out filming when I wasn’t available and I had all this footage for a longer project. It only came to us later down the line that it might be fun to cut together a more DIY and personal video to Duffy’s, one which showed us a bit more."
