Auckland-based Daily J continue to take the globe by storm with their signature blend of indie-rock and indie-pop; today dropping a new single - the nostalgic and sentimental 'Happy Slides'.
It’s been an action packed few years for the three brothers Jayden, Jonny and Jesse Paul and their friend Rick Everard, who have earned a reputation as one of New Zealand's most successful musical exports with tens of millions of streams and sold out tours.
The release of 'Happy Slides' - along with the video - marks the first new music from Daily J since last year’s double EP release SLUSH HONEY Side A and Side B. It finds the band in reflective mode, dipping between past and present; creating a melodic postcard that anyone would hope to receive.
“This song has been in the pipeline for some time - just an idea lingering. Our last tour kept us away from home longer than ever before,” says Jayden. “During that stretch Jay penned another tune reflecting on our journey. In the back of his mind he knew it would perfectly complement 'Happy Slides'. Combining both melodies, 'Happy Slides' was born.”
While still very much in keeping with the sound Daily J fans have come to know and love, ‘Happy Slides’ sees the band moving into new sonic territory. “It still has our vibe - all the quintessential Daily J sounds, feelings and emotions, but with sassier drum beats and slide guitar riffs,” says Rick.

Produced by Cody Wilcox, mixed by Josh Strand and mastered by Metropolis in the UK, ‘Happy Slides’ comes with a video, beautifully shot entirely on film by Dylan Martin.
The video captures Daily J in their most raw and happiest moments. "It shows the highs and the lows, or the most vulnerable side to our musical career. It’s also full of fond memories from summer festivals like Le Currents and Laneway.”
