Maine island-based post-riot grrrls BAIT BAG to release “Splinter”, the third single from their upcoming full-length album, Confident, Sloppy, and Loud, on July 1.
The song, which combines wry lyrics about healing from a break-up to the point of not even noticing that the person is gone with a 6/8 beat reminiscent of New Orleans blues, is a stylistic departure for the band. Fiona Robins’ soulful vocals deliver a message of self-sufficiency and power wholly in line with the album’s themes of radical self-love.
The single is supported by a music video directed by Wes Sterrs. The single-shot video emphasizes Robins’ power and agency as magical elements creep into an in-studio performance.
Confident, Sloppy, and Loud will be released in full on July 8, and BAIT BAG will tour New England and New York to support the album. “Cramp Couch” and “Entropy”, the album’s first two singles, are available on all platforms.
