London power-punk risers Alien Chicks release debut EP ‘Indulging The Mobs’, out today (July 18th) via Hideous Mink Records (Opus Kink, Fake Turins, Black Bordello) & SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special).
Comprising of biting lead single ‘Steve Buscemi’, frenetic follow-up ‘Qwerty’ and most recent effort ‘Curtains Up’, Alien Chicks’ debut EP showcases their surreal social commentary in its finest form, with support filtering across the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Arielle Free, Amy Lamé), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves, as well as key indie press champions including The Independent, DIY, Dork, CMU and Rough Trade.
With a UK tour support ticked off alongside indie heavyweights English Teacher late last year, the thriving trio have developed a staunch grassroots following in recent times, with multiple sold-out London headliners and dates supporting Lambrini Girls, Fat Dog, Opus Kink and Warmduscher. Alien Chicks’ biggest headline show yet took place at London’s iconic Moth Club earlier this month, with festival dates now underway and a headline tour across the UK, Ireland and Netherlands lined up this autumn. The band will also play a string of London shows in the coming weeks to celebrate their EP release.
Detailing ‘Indulging The Mobs’, the band stated: “Themes of anxiety, crashing your car, estate agents, bad magazines and people who are too big for their boots. ‘Indulging the mobs’ is a social commentary or expression of feelings towards anecdotes, but whatever it means to you is what it means to us. The EP floats through the mundane but explores the musing beneath the surface. We experience life as equal forces in opposite directions - one minute you’re face up, the next your face down. ‘Indulging the mobs’ reflects this through the drastic and dynamic navigation of the extremes of the motifs. The EP begins and ends in the same way, with the transitions between each song being sonically coherent, so that the whole EP could be played on loop forever as a cycle of chaos that you can’t break… and the curtains go up again…”
Alien Chicks’ ‘Indulging The Mobs’ (EP) is out now via Hideous Mink Records and SO Recordings and available on all digital platforms.
